Hor Weng Yew has more than 30 years of experience in the maritime industry. He is currently the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL) Group, the shipping arm of the Kuok Group and sits in the various Boards of companies in Kuok Group Singapore (KGSg). He is also a Director in Kuok Maritime Group (KMG) comprising the Group’s offshore business (Pacific Offshore Holdings), shipyard/marine engineering business (PaxOcean Group), and PCL.

Before joining KGSg, he was the President & Chief Executive Officer of American Eagle Tankers (AET). Weng Yew was involved in the pioneering team of AET in its formative years under Neptune Orient Lines Singapore (NOL) and continued to play an instrumental role in the growth of AET in its subsequent ownership under the MISC Group. In NOL, he was involved in various parts of the NOL Chartering Group businesses including general cargo/dry bulk business, strategic planning and asset management and structured financing deals. In MISC, he served as the Head of its regional headquarters in London overseeing the European, American, African and Middle Eastern markets, and also headed the MISC Chemical Shipping business based in Kuala Lumpur.

Weng Yew holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) Degree from the National University of Singapore and Masters of Science (MSC) in Shipping, Trade & Finance (Distinction) from the City University Business School London (subsequently renamed CASS Business School, City University of London). He had also attended the INSEAD Advanced Management Programme (AMP) in France in his continued pursuit of management excellence.

In the maritime industry, Weng Yew plays an active role in Maritime Singapore as well as in the international front. Weng Yew currently serves as the Chairman of the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) and is involved in many industry initiatives in Maritime Singapore. He is also an industry representative of the Advisory Board of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Maritime Studies program, and a member of Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation Limited (GCMD). Weng Yew also sits in the Gard P&I (Bermuda) Ltd Board as a Director, as well as serving in Gard’s Election & Governance Committee.
