Nikolaos Michas is the Global Tanker Segment Director for Lloyd’s Register, a position he has held since June 2020.
Prior to joining LR, he held roles for other classification societies over the course of 16 years. His most recent was that of Regional Tanker Segment Director for South-Eastern Europe and the Middle East. During that time, he was responsible for the management of key accounts and the business development within the region.
Nikolaos also spent 11 years working within China, across several technical and management roles, including as a surveyor and site manager on newbuilding projects. Later he was North of China District Manager, responsible for all operations in the district before spending three years in Nanjing as QHSE & Production Manager for Central China. Here he oversaw newbuild projects at over 20 shipyards.
At the beginning of his Career, Nikolaos worked as a sea-going engineer before progressing to a Superintendent Engineer at a number of Greek shipping companies.
Nikolaos holds a master’s degree from Newcastle University in marine engineering and naval architecture and a master’s degree from the University of Hertfordshire in Business Administrat
