Katerina Elikonida Maroudi is a Regulatory Manager at BIMCO, based in Athens. She represents BIMCO in international discussions on maritime safety and the human element, ensuring that BIMCO’s technical expertise and members’ operational experience inform the work of the International Maritime Organization for the benefit of the worldwide shipping industry.
Her work covers seafarer training and wellbeing, ship safety, alternative fuels and new technologies, lifesaving appliances and fire protection, and ballast water management. She works closely with BIMCO members and industry partners to develop evidence-based policy positions and technical input on these issues.
Katerina holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Shipping. Before joining BIMCO, she worked in ship management and held senior responsibilities as Designated Person Ashore (DPA), Company Security Officer (CSO) and Health, Safety, Quality & Environment (HSQE) Manager. This combination of technical qualifications and senior operational experience gives her a strong understanding of how international requirements affect ships, seafarers and shore-based teams in practice.
