Masaki Matsunaga graduated with a master’s degree in Engineering from Yokohama National University in 1988. Since beginning his career at ClassNK in the same year, he has covered research, plan approval, on-site surveys, and survey control as well as management at Copenhagen Office. He was assigned as General Manager of External Affairs Department in 2014, where he was responsible for managing ClassNK’s relationships with flag administrations and international bodies, such as IMO/IACS. Leveraging his expertise throughout the society’s operation, he became Director of Plan Approval and Technical Solution Division in 2022. Mr. Matsunaga was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2024 and leads initiatives to facilitate the maritime industry’s adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
