Jim is a dispute resolution lawyer based in Hong Kong. His practice covers shipping, shipbuilding,
arbitration, aviation, banking, commodities, construction, commercial, energy, insurance and
regulatory matters. He is admitted as a solicitor of England & Wales (1977) and Hong Kong
(1983).
After eight years in London, Jim moved to Hong Kong in 1983 and has been based here ever
since although he has also worked in Beijing (2005 – 2006), Shanghai (2006 – 2010), Singapore
(1999 – 2002) and South Korea (1986/87).
He is a panel arbitrator of the Beijing Arbitration Commission, CIETAC and CMAC, a mediator and
past chairman of the Hong Kong Insurance Law Association, and is an HKIAC panel adjudicator.
Upon retiring from his previous firm (Norton Rose Fulbright) in 2021, he joined Hill Dickinson Hong
Kong as a consultant.
